MORE VIENNA

More Vienna

Today is our final day of sightseeing in Vienna. Our hosts came over this morning before we left and we got to meet Heidi. She was very pleasant to visit with while Franz reprogrammed out TV.

We took the underground rail into the center of town. As there is no traffic to deal with, the trip takes only minutes to get there. Our first stop of the day was at the Hoffburg Palace to go watch the Lipizzaner Stallions as they practiced with their riders. We couldn't take photos but the arena was a large oval shaped area with 3 viewing levels. These specially bred horses are national performers and this place is their home.

Afterwards, we visited the Imperial Apartments, home of the king and queen and all of the amazing rooms with all the pomp and royalty that befits Royalty in the 18th century. We made our way into the Treasury Building to view endless Silver serving sets, Silverware, China, Porcelain-ware including dishes, bowels, pitchers and chamber pots.

We went to the Central Cafe for lunch. Ron and I had the best tasting Schnitzel thus far! Mmmmmmmmm. I think I should have gotten one to go!! From there we ran around some more. It started to rain but that didn't stop the two shoppers we had with us! We ducked into a Starbucks and had some Java. More shopping. Then we went back to Central Cafe to have coffee and dessert and listen to a gray haired old guy play Mozart music on the piano. He did good!

We caught the underground back to our stop and ended our day. We
Have a Taxi coming to pick us up at 0830 to head to our next destination. See you in SALZBURG!
