PALM SPRINGS, CA
After a leisurely morning with Mike and Alice, we left La Mirada and headed to Palm Springs. We were looking forward to warmer weather and excited to see what this place looked like. We fueled up at STARBUCKS along the way and arrived in Palm Springs in the early afternoon.
We drove over to nearby Cathedral City and had the Toyota serviced at the dealership. It was overdue for it's 20,000 mile service. We take it in every 5,000 miles and they sure come quickly when doing a long road trip!
We had lunch at the Sunshine Cafe nearby while we waited on the car. As the temperature was running about 50 and the wind chill making it even cooler, I asked the waiter about the cold weather. I said, "I thought Palm Springs was supposed to be warm!" "What's with this COLD??" He said, "It's always cold in the winter and hot in the summer". He asked where we were from and I said "Portland, Oregon". He said, "We'll, you are used to this temperature". I said, "That's true, but what's that bright light in the sky?"
We checked in at the Palm Springs Worldmark and headed for our room. I couldn't believe how hard it was to get to Condos 506 and 508. Whoever designed this place apparently had no plan for these two rooms; or it could explain how Peyote affects the human mind!
I contacted our Portland friends, Cathy and Terry Gilmore, who are spending a month in Palm Desert. We are getting together tomorrow for lunch. Strange how, no matter where you are, birds of a feather still flock together!
