Debby's thoughts.....
We were very impressed with Prague!
It is a city that has been through so much and just seems happy to be on the other side of the struggle.....
They are very friendly and eager to serve...our hosts almost overwhelmed us with their eagerness to be sure our stay was great. They helped with suggestions, bus tickets and even czech pastries to welcome us. They also answered all our questions about life under communism ....it has only been 14 short years of freedom......imagine being told your house was too big so the government is moving another family in...no choices
We are so blessed in USA.
We also had a driver who took us home from a dinner of Czech folklore...his boss told him the wrong address so he said "let me show you the castle at night since we are close...".it was beautiful! He too was eager to share his joy of freedom
We went to the Museum of communism and were very sobered by what these people lived through....
Prague unbelievably escaped destruction in WWII and has beautiful and different buildings everywhere you look...it's seemingly endless. We rode to the end of one of the bus lines to see farther out in the city. Even the very boring communist apartments have become art projects (..in Berlin too!)
We are having an enriching time.....not only the sightseeing but ....people!
We have enjoyed conversations with people from Taiwan , Croatia , Italy, all over Europe .
On the train yesterday, there were 10 of us from the states....Kentucky , Virginia, Florida and another couple from......Portland , Oregon! We talked for 5 hours!
We miss you but don't have any plans to come home early!
