Mount Rushmore

MOUNT RUSHMORE, SD
June 26, 2015

After leaving Canmore and entering the United States in Montana, it was a long drive across Eastern Montana and Wyoming.  The Big Sky country stretched from one horizon to the other without stopping!  We pulled in at Jail House Pizza in Harlowton, MT, a tiny little spot on the map.  We did notice a military presence here.  Apparently, the AF still has work to do at the Silos around here.

The pizza joint was quaint. The owner had purchased the old city jail building with its steel roof, foot thick concrete walls and iron bars over the windows. The Sheriff took the front iron door with him to the new jail location.

The food was great and the wit and wisdom of the owner was fun.  We spent the night in a nearby tiny town named Roundup.  I remember that name because I associate it with weed killer!  Ha Ha!

Mount Rushmore in the morning sun was a perfect time to view this huge mountain.  We spent a few hours looking at the mountain, it's history and purchasing a few souvenirs.  We snapped a few dozen more photos before continuing our road trip towards Missouri.
